I was commissioned by Dr. Barbara Beacham from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing to design a logo for her medical study. Her Childhood Lifelong Illness Management Blueprint (CLIMB) study targeted children from ages 8-18 with chronic illnesses, and focused primarily on how to help children learn how to best manage life with their respective illnesses. Dr. Beacham wanted to incorporate an image of a ladder, mountain, or an evolutionary process to convey the idea of the “journey upward” as children learn how to manage their disease.
These are the first passes at the design - I decided to go with a mountain theme because I felt it best captivated the concept of learning how to overcome living with a chronic illness.
The second pass at the logo design in both color and grayscale. I made the silhouette of the “i” figure orange to draw attention to the person climbing up the mountain, so as to emphasize the journey theme. I also decided to include the name of the study on the bottom of the logo.
The finished logo in both color and grayscale. Dr. Beacham decided to forego the text and stick to a monochromatic color scheme.
This is a sticker I designed just for fun - it’s my take on a seal doing banana pose.
